Affiliated PET Systems offers two convenient locations serving Montgomery County, Maryland and Metropolitan Washington, DC with the latest equipment, technology and clinical expertise. Advancing the standard in PET Imaging technology, our PET Imaging Centers are the first in the area to provide Image Fusion, a process of co-registering PET data with CT/MRI images giving more detailed information to our physicians to enhance their clinical interpretations. This new "Fused" information can aid local physicians to accurately diagnose, stage, and restage their patient's disease or determine response to treatment.

SERVICES:

PET is a unique imaging device that visualizes metabolic activity in the body. Metabolic and functional abnormalities can reveal disease states before structural damage is evident. The most common applications of PET in cancer patients are for staging the extent of the disease, detecting recurrent disease early, and for monitoring the response to therapy. PET has also been shown to have value in diagnosing cardiac diseases and various brain disorders.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a powerful imaging technique that has shown great promise in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. A non-invasive test, PET accurately images metabolic information in the human body in a single scan, allowing physicians to examine the entire body at once. PET provides a more complete picture, making it easier to diagnose problems, determine extent of disease, prescribe treatment, and continue to assess progress.
