In August 2000, ImageSouth Montclair opened, featuring a high-field strength Wide Open Architecture Signa MRI made by General Electric. This unit combines the best of both worlds: it's a high-field magnet providing the high quality films so essential to making good treatment decisions, but it is extremely short in length and has a wide opening, so that patients are very comfortable during their scans, even if they are claustrophobic.
"High-field magnets deliver superior images," Dr. Eichelberger said. "That's important. You want your doctor to see the finest level of detail possible because his or her treatment of your condition hinges on accurate diagnostic findings. Another advantage of high-field strength magnets is brief scan times. A high-field strength magnet delivers a more detailed scan in a shorter period of time. Our scan times are as short as 15 minutes in some cases."
The heart of the mission is delivering the highest quality imaging services with a human touch. "Our patients tell us how friendly and courteous they find our staff," said Tim Watkins, Administrator for the center. "We appreciate hearing that; we're also proud of the fact that we have five full-time radiologists, three of whom are neuroradiologists. Our technologists are very experienced, with full professional qualifications."
SERVICES:
ImageSouth Montclair offers a diverse array of diagnostic imaging services including high-field MRIs, spiral CT scanning, and CT cardiac scoring.
"We're excited about what we offer the community," said Joe Paul, President of ImageSouth Montclair. "Our goal is to provide a convenient access to these vital imaging services and technologies."
Montclair's new state-of-the-art spiral CTscanner with cardiac scoring will offer calcium scoring, which is a heart-screening tool that can detect plaque accumulation in the arteries at a much earlier stage than traditional stress tests. "Calcium scoring is a breakthrough technology that can save lives because it can detect plaque buildup in the arteries so early," said Dr. Eichelberger, Medical Director at ImageSouth Montclair. ImageSouth Montclair will be only one of two facilities that offer this technology, and the outpatient center.
As impressive as the technology is at ImageSouth Montclair, the fact that the facility has at least one full-time Board-certified radiologist on-site at all times, and often a Board-certified neuroradiologist, is something few outpatient imaging centers anywhere can match. Other distinguishing characteristics of this facility that support quality patient care are:
- Same-day scheduling
- Reports guaranteed within 24 hours
- Registered, licensed technologists
- Extended hours (including Saturdays)
- Fax scheduling upon request
- Convenient locations with free parking
Located at our Montclair facility, ImageSouth P.E.T. has the latest technology in diagnostic imaging for cancer patients. P.E.T., the acronym for Positron Emission Tomography, has been in existence since the late 1960's. Over the years, the scanner and the radioactive agent used in this exam have been improved to the point where cancer can be detected at an earlier stage and detect the patient's response to chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Medicare and commercial insurances are now reimbursing for the P.E.T. scan, bringing it out of the research realm and making it available to the thousands of patients with this mysterious and aggressive disease. For more information, click on our ImageSouth P.E.T. facility page.
No other test can give your physician this type of information with the accuracy and specificity like the P.E.T. scan can!
